Does anyone have a picture of the Little Brown Church other than those on their site? I am contemplating getting married there, but it is quite a drive. Anyone who went disappointed at the building and the area? Or is it the ideal place?

The town where the church is located, is pretty small. The location of the church is nothing special. The inside is nice, but really no different than any older church. Sorry, I don%26#39;t have a picture. I know a few people that have been married there. It%26#39;s your day, it will be great wherever you go. Have fun!

My husband and I stopped there last summer. The location will be what you want it to be...a simple country church or a magical place...... We%26#39;re from Minnesota and happen to live in an area that has many small, rural churches so it wasn%26#39;t much different than many we%26#39;d been in. The difference comes in the significance you attach to the song. Otherwise, it%26#39;s a pleasant area, there%26#39;s a nice yard to the side of the church, and there%26#39;s a parking lot (dirt) across the street. We enjoyed our visit and learned more about the history of the church. It was a very pleasant experience and we%26#39;re glad we detoured to see it.
Please, put away the bridal magazines and focus on the commitment you%26#39;re about to make and the setting that will make it meaningful.
This church is an ideal place to be for visitation or to get married. This is not a little brown church anymore in fact it has undergone expansion in 03-04. The church now has paved parking, improved handicap accessibility, larger gathering area for social events, modern kitchen/cooking area, and more rooms to educate the catholic youth. Yet the St Patricks church in Nevada has kept its buty as it was when it was a little church.
My wife and I stopped on our trip east. The pine forest area in back of the wooden church is peaceful. I like small town areas so it has the rural appeal. I would recomment a detour. For a small wedding under 50 persons, it would be quaint. I have no photos to share. Small white churches in Iowa are a gem to save. So many new brick churches are being built now .
Interior pictures can be found at littlebrownchurch.org. The last wedding I attended was in 1986 and it was very nice. Considering there is a wedding every 30 minutes during summer months, the ceremony did not feel rushed and when the happy couple went to the back of the Church to ring the bell together afterwards while the minister told them about having to pull together to make a marriage work ---- goose bumps!!
My husband and I were married there January 24, 2002. It was nice. The church is simple but nice. My In-laws were married there some 27 years ago. That is why we went for it. We figured if they were able to stay married this long, we could to since this was both our second marriages.
They have a nice place to have the reception after the wedding.
It all depends on who you want at your wedding. If you are wanting friends and family to attend and you live as far away as Des Moines as I did, do not plan on a large attendance. The distance will chase people away from attending your wedding. It will be great where ever you decide to get married. You would enjoy the little brown Church, and I%26#39;m sorry but the only pictures of the churce I have are on a VHS Tape of our wedding that family filmed.

The Little Brown Church in the Vale, nestled amongst the pine trees in Historic Bradford, IA is home to hundreds of weddings each year. I live close to the church, grew up here, learned to sing the song, ';The Little Brown Church in the Vale';; have been in weddings at the church, have been a soloist at the church, observed my parents%26#39; 50th wedding anniversary at the church, and feel I know it well. There%26#39;s a feeling of history and longevity that goes along with the church and its idealic rural Iowa setting. The weddings tend to be ';packages';...and you follow the prescribed regimen. You can be standing outside the church waiting to follow the group inside, so it can have that ';Vegas'; feel...so if you have a choice, pick a less busy time...not February 14th, or summer Saturdays. It is a brown church, painted that color because at the time of its construction during the Civil War, it was a color more easily obtained. Keep it simple and you%26#39;ll your experience if like history and an uncomplicated beginning. Remember it%26#39;s what happens in the following 50 years that counts!
I was married there %26amp; thought it was wonderful. We had 8 guests %26amp; it was perfect for us. We did drive to Clear Lake for dinner afterwards. If you contact the church, they have people who you can pay to help with your service....ie. florist, musicians. It is a small country church %26amp; for me it was perfect.
My husband and I have many pleasant memories of our wedding at The Little Brown Church over 43 years ago. This quaint, charming church is located in a beautiful, serene rural setting near the small town of Nashua in Chickasaw County, Iowa. I feel this Church is a perfect setting for those who wish a small, quiet wedding. Five years ago while traveling through Iowa, my husband and I decided to stop by to visit the church. Pastor Linda Myren was so gracious and invited us to ring the church bell we rang together the day of our wedding. On the first Sunday of August the congregation hosts an annual ';Celebration of Marriage,'; honoring all couples who have been married at the church and providing them with an opportunity to renew their wedding vows. This year the Church will be celebrating its 150th anniversary.
My wife and I visited the Little Brown Church three weeks ago after singing the song for many years. It was fantastic. I was so impressed when we arrived about 6 pm and there was a note telling any visitor to go on in and visit. It was not locked and we enjoyed touring the building. Very impressive.
