Please give me a idea as to which are the best and residential as well as school areas for settling down with a family in Des Moines.
Housing should be reasonable . Good schools a priority.

Nausheen -
See the post directly below yours - there%26#39;s quite a discussion on where to move to in the Des Moines area.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I have tried to surf the net for some idea on residential properties in Waukee and Urbandale.
However, I have no idea how to find out how reasonable the property tax is on single family properties with 4+ beds.
Thank you much,

I believe the polk county assessors office has property info online - this may tell you about property tax amounts for different areas.
Nausheen:
The Polk and Dallas Co. assessors have web sites with tax information. Taxes can vary within a single community. For example, Urbandale has quite a few tax rates depending on which school district encompasses the property. If the web sites don%26#39;t help, you may want to call the assessors%26#39; offices to discuss the situation. Coming from New Jersey, I think you%26#39;ll find the taxes to be lower overall, housing to be inexpensive, auto insurance rates to be much lower and the quality of most of the schools to be comparable with the well-funded northern NJ suburban schools. Here are some sites to check: data.dmregister.com/gradrates/index.php,
It sounds as though you%26#39;re looking at housing in the western suburbs; you%26#39;ll find that many people have strong opinions about the best schools, best communities, etc. From an objective perspective, in the Johnston/western Urbandale/ Clive/Waukee/West Des Moines area the communities are very similar and there isn%26#39;t really much true difference among them.
Best of luck! I moved here one year ago and hope you enjoy the Des Moines area as much as I do!
