Hi,
I%26#39;m considering coming in to Des Moines at the end of June to catch a couple of games. Any hotel recommendations near the park?
Thanks in advance.

Embassy Suites on the river, for top of the line there are the suites of 800 locust.

The Holiday Inn Downtown is great. They have free parking and offer complimentary shuttle service to and from the stadium.
depending on what you want, Holiday Inn is very old. Check out the Suites at 800 Locust (that is the name) http://www.800locust.com/
very nice and not real expensive. It%26#39;s also closer and you could walk to the game rather than messing with parking.
Dave,
If you haven%26#39;t come to Des Moines yet. Check out the New Hilton Garden Inn in West Des Moines. It%26#39;s awesome, it%26#39;s next to Jordan Creek Mall, Super Target and the new Super Wal-mart.
They have two pools, fitness center and hot tub along with made to order breakfast.
Have fun at the ball park.
Thanks. Actually my trip was postponed. I still hope to get there before the end of the season.
I made a trip to Des Moines last year to catch the I-Cubs take on the Nashville Sounds, who are the Brewers AAA affiliate. I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn on the Jordan Creek Towne Center Campus. Very, very, very clean place. The Jordan Creek Towne Center is a neat shopping center. I ate at Joe%26#39;s Crab Shack. We don%26#39;t have one of those here in the Madison area.
It%26#39;s a very easy drive to the stadium from West Des Moines. A lot of Iowa residents complain about the traffic, but traffic was nothing, even compared to Madison standards. I like downtown Des Moines, although there was a lot of vacant storefronts. Iowa drivers are very good. My only complaint was with parking. I don%26#39;t know how many big trucks took up 2 parking stalls in the parking ramp. Too many to count.
The stadium itself is okay, but a little bit old. However, there are lots of friendly people, and not a bad seat in the house. My only complaint was outside the stadium on the river walk. The river walk is nice, but it was filled with smokers who could not smoke inside the stadium.
Hopefully you can make the drive next season to watch the Cubs%26#39; prospects. (or lack thereof)
Thanks for the update. I didn%26#39;t get there this season - hopefully next year.
