I am a youth director at my church and I was wondering if anyone had anything in mine to do in Iowa.
Church TripGo to the Amana Colonies. Great working Amish community with lots of shops and restaurants. Close to Iowa City.
The new Mississippi Great River Museum is open in Dubuque.
I lived in Burlington Iowa and they now have Fun City, which is indoor amusement park (go-carts, lazer tag, video games, etc...) Indoor water park (outdoor in warmer weather.)
Where are you coming from? Contact First Christian Church in Burlington Iowa. They have a nice youth group, Pastor Tom Smith can give you other ideas for youth trips in Iowa.
Good luck.
Church TripThe Amana Colonies are NOT Amish! Not even close.
I%26#39;m sorry, I may be mistaken on their religious background, but instead of yelling what they are not, please correct a post and state who founded the area.
I know many German immigrants are there, Is this the more appropriate description?
Sorry, I wasn%26#39;t ';yelling';, I was just shocked that someone who has lived in Iowa wouldn%26#39;t know this. You spoke as if you had been to the Amanas so I was very surprised when you linked these two completely different groups.
If you go to this link the nice folks in the Amanas will explain this misconception: http://www.amanacolonies.org/amish/index.html
Apparently enough people confuse this that they include an entire page of explanation on their website.
I%26#39;m just chuckling to myself now thinking of ';Amish'; refrigerators and other appliances for the home. :-)
