My husband and I are thinking of driving from Indiana to visit our son who is going to college in central Iowa over the Thanksgiving holiday. Does anyone have suggestions for a great place to stay and eat for Thanksgiving? I am thinking of somewhere in the area of the Iowa City toward DesMoines region. Thanks!

Where exactly is your son going to school - that would make a big difference in where we might recommend. The Amana Colonies would be a great place to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.

the Ox Yoke Inn in Main Amana is very good. Their meals are served family style. I would think they are open on Thanksgiving, but not sure. There website gives hours, but not holidays. You could just give them a call. Their website is simply oxyokeinn.com

Thanks for the suggestion of the Oxyoke Inn. It was a perfect place to meet my son for THanksgiving dinner. The food was good and there was plenty of it for a starving college boy and 14 year old brother! Now we need to go back to the Amana Colonies when all of it is open. Thanks!
