In Iowa mid Oct to 4 Nov. Any events we should not miss?

Hi. We are visiting Iowa again this year from 19 Oct to 4 Nov. If you know of any events, concerts etc that are on within a day or so of Iowa City we%26#39;d really appreciate it if you could let us know about them.

Hi Johnlogie. I live in Davenport and suggest that you check out the events and concerts that will be at The Mark in Moline, IL. Moline is right next to us, across the Mississippi River. We are less than an hour from Iowa City. The Mark website has some concerts listed but don%26#39;t know what you are interested in. See www.themark.org and www.ticketmaster.com/venue/49264 for information.

You might also want to try www.hancher.uiowa.edu for the performance venue in Iowa City and th e Adler http://www.riverctr.com/broadway.html there is also Chicago where many concerts events happen and Chicago is only 4 hours west of Iowa city. DesMoines and Ames are in the center of the state and aare about 3-4 hours from Iowa City as well. If you are looking for historic events DesMoines Living History Farm usually has activities http://www.lhf.org/. For concerts ticketmaster is a good choice just type in the region or town: Chicago or Davenport etc and it will give you a listing. http://www.chicagotraveler.com has a nice listing of concerts events etc. A good place to eat in Chicago with a nice view is the Signature at the Top of the Hancock. For real traditional American Fare try Culvers in Iowa City or Davenport. For more relaxing time try the Amana Colonies near Iowa City.

Hi Johnlogie,

If you are wanting the best steak of your life, you should plan a trip to Rube%26#39;s Steakhouse while in Iowa. There are two locations - one near Des Moines and one in the small town of Montour, only 75 minutes W/NW of Iowa City. It is a grill-your-own restaurant with a casual yet cozy ambience that encourages great conversation around the grill. The wine and beer lists are excellent, and the meat is the best quality, most scrumptious, tender cuts and generous portions you%26#39;ll ever find. I%26#39;ll be glad to give you directions if you are interested!

You could spend a day at Carroll%26#39;s Pumpkin Farm in Grinnell - very fun, no matter what your age is and then head to either Rube%26#39;s location for a great steak. There is also a casino about 3 miles from the Montour location, if you are interested. Not my thing to do, but thought I%26#39;d let you know.

There are many concerts, plays and festivals going on the weekend of 10/21 in the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area. You can also log on to gazetteonline.com for info about area events.

There are also several parks in the area with beautiful foliage. Kent Park, just a few miles west of Iowa City on HWY 6 is a nice, smaller park with a few hiking trails and picnic spots.

Enjoy your trip to the great state of Iowa!

Try a breakfast or lunch at Snacktime in Downtown. Eddie is a wonderful cook, and its a good place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. One of the few places that you CAN smoke indoors, but it isnt a haze
