Dubuque Area - Destinations

Our kids are heading to Loras this summer and I%26#39;d like to head someplace two-three hours in the surrounding area of Dubuque for a few days.

We are not much of casino gamblers - more interested in golf, hiking, massage, great restaurants. Hotel, bed and breakfast, resort - it%26#39;s only for a few nights so price is not a huge issue. This is a rare experience for me so I want something really nice and special.

Does anyone have a destination that might work for us - we live in Chicago area so I%26#39;d like to explore someplace we have not been before.

Dubuque Area - Destinations

You may check into different places in Galena, IL, or possible Amana, IA. You won%26#39;t necessarily find the big ';resort'; you are looking for, but both places have lots of interesting shopping, smaller hotels, and great restaurants. There would also be some great golfing available in both. The Amanas would probably be just about 2 hours SW of Dubuque, of course Galena is only about 30 minutes east.
